Ο Μυστικός Δείπνος. The Mystical Supper.
On the night He was betrayed, Christ took bread and the cup and gave them to His disciples: “Take, eat; this is my body” (Matthew 26:26). The Church calls it the Mystical Supper because it is not only a memory. At every Divine Liturgy the same Body and Blood are offered, and the faithful are called to the same table.
“Of Thy Mystical Supper, O Son of God, accept me today as a communicant.” Sung on Great and Holy Thursday and prayed before every Holy Communion.
