Agion Oros "Holy Mountain" Tee
The Garden of the Theotokos.
For more than a thousand years the Holy Mountain has been given over to prayer. The back lists its twenty ruling monasteries in their official order, from the Great Lavra, founded by St Athanasios the Athonite in 963, to Konstamonitou, beside an engraving of the Mountain from 1890.
Along the bottom runs the prayer said there day and night: Κύριε Ἰησοῦ Χριστέ, Υἱὲ τοῦ Θεοῦ, ἐλέησόν με. Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me.
